Scuba Diving Trip (July)

It's awful hard to get pictures uploaded to your computer without a digital camera, hence, me taking soooo long to get this posted. I'm finally writing about our dive trip we were able to take in mid-July. The month of June, David and I took lessons and became Scuba Certified. David's new step-dad Steve offered to let us go on a dive trip he was planning with his sons, Richard and Ryan to Catalina Island. It was some what stressful getting there, that same week David was in Puerto Rico on business and figured it would be more efficient to meet me in Los Angeles. So, (since Stella is 9 years from being able to certify) I dropped her off at my mom's house and they all watched her for the 5 days we were gone. It was so hard leaving her! I bawled as Stella waved goodbye from the porch (this being the first time she had waved good-bye, of course). That night I drove to Twin Falls and stayed at my brothers house. The next morning I was out of the house by 5am and on the long road to my Dad's house in Merced. I didn't mind all the country driving, I didn't mind sitting alone with my thoughts and pondering. It was when I hit that California traffic that messed up the drive! =) Don't worry though, I even beat my Dad home from work. I got there early evening and was able to spend at least a little (not enough) but a little time with Dad and Mary. The next morning I left for the 4 hour drive to Los Angeles to pick up my David, I had not seen him all week! I hated all three of us being in different places. I didn't like the feeling of us not all being together. After rough directions from the woman's voice on the GPS in my windshield (she received a nick-name on that trip....use your imagination), I picked up David and our vacation began! Our boat was called the Sand Dollar and it was nothing fancy at all. Tight space, bitty bunks (a bunch of stinky men) but we were there for the diving so it didn't matter.

Before we took off on the boat we ate at the pier

This is what we ate...

Delicious!!
Here are the bunks, there were 8 beds in this tiny room!

This is the back of the boat (above our bunks) with all the dive gear to suit 30 people plus the crew. And Catalina Island in the background.
Below are the pictures we took with our under water camera. The visibility was a lot more clear and the pictures don't give the scene we had justice! We found out later, even though it was a 50ft depth camera, it would only take pics at about 20ft deep. The further we went down, the greater the pressure and we couldn't click the button to take pictures. But, you get the general idea anyway!

This picture we're looking up, you can follow the bubbles up to the surface.

The colors were so vibrant. The coral was bright and the kelp was every color of green. The fish were like the kind you'd see from Finding Nemo. They weren't shy either, they'd come up and give our goggles kisses. We saw a lot of lobster. David said he saw a family of lobsters all cuddled together in a small cove looking up at him as he swam by.

Scuba Steve!

A previous diver found a sea slug and brought it up to the surface around the same time we were diving. When they threw him back in, he landed on David's head. And for those of you who know how incredibly squeemish David is, can only imagine how funny his reaction under water was!!

Sea Slug

Sea Slug floofing or farting, or whatever it is they do to protect themselves!
The creatures we saw whose photo's didn't turn out:
A lobster at 70ft deep the size of my daughter. Also in the same dive, a sting ray that floated so graciously by with a school of fish, the span being longer than my arm span. David saw a black sea bass on that dive as well, he said it was about 5 feet long. I guees the deeper you go, the bigger things get.
On the more shallow dives we saw several sting rays, lobsters, crabs, seals and flying fish. The last dive on one of the days made me nervous. It was getting dark and visibility was getting worse. I had a nervous feeling the whole dive. Suddenly just a few feet away from us swam AT the LEAST a 5 foot shark. Careful training teaches you to ascend slowly, so as to not expand your lungs to the point of bursting. Instincts, however, teach you to get the hell out of there as fast as humanly possible. Suprisingly, David was in awe and kept watching it, wanting to follow it, then looking for his dive buddy (me) was no where to be found. Just a trail of bubbles leading straight up out of the water. All in all, it was amazing. At a distance of course. That dive ended early.
Underwater Forest

HaHa! Me in all my gear... you can't tell but I am smiling and having a great time.

Gigantic gold fish were everywhere.

David would blow bubble rings at me, much like smoke rings, just less damaging to the lungs.
David at the surface

We did about 3-4 dives a day for 3 days. It was the most amazing experience and I was so excited to accomplish this long dreamed goal. We are already shooting ideas around for next summer and where we plan to dive.
The boat docked on Saturday evening back in Los Angeles and my Uncle Tony was kind enough to let us stay at his place, even though he was visiting Santa Barbara at the time. We ate at a great, very fresh sushi place that evening and slept like babies that night.
The next morning we went to Huntington Beach where David got up on a surf board for his first time. Then we stopped at my half sister's house. I had not seen Ashlee in several years and it just so happened to be her birthday that very day. It was wonderful catching up with her.
We didn't return home until 4am, David worked that morning and I was on the road again at 5am to pick Stella up. Exhausting, but very, very worth it.

For the Grandparents

This post is especially for Stella's grandparents who haven't been able to see her walk yet! Turn your volume on and you can here her say some of her favorite words like, ball, more, and daddy. PS. She wears her pants like her daddy!!

Summer Days are Gone too Soon

Stella decided to play dress up with this tutu she got for her birthday from her cousin Addie and Aunt Emily...

...a little touch of make-up...

...she's just too cute!

Her royal throne. Getting up is easy, getting down??

David and I love going to Real Salt Lake Soccer games, it's the only sport we really get into and I thought it appropriate to get a jersey for his birthday and he loved it.
A few weeks back we went to the State Fair with some neighbor friends of ours, I thought I took a lot more pictures than this, but I guess not! Anyway, we had so much fun.
Stella became really excited over the bunnies. She was crawling out of her stroller to get through those cages, it was really cute.

On a gigantic pumpkin. I couldn't let her turn around and see the cherry tomatoes though, she would have devoured them!

Happy Birthday David

It's David's birthday today and I can't tell you how blessed Stella and I are to have him in our lives. When I first met him and we fell in love I didn't think it was possible to love anyone any deeper, well, over the past 9 years I was proven wrong. I love to tell his success stories on how he's done so well in school and is going on for his masters. I love to tell how he soared at work and was honored to travel to Canada and Puerto Rico to fix radars at those sites. But I'd also like to tell you the trates he's too humble to admit himself. He's always reaching for goals, in fact he's got a long list of them and keeps track. He's also very supportive of my goals, in fact he's helping one of them become a reality very soon and has been very understanding in making it happen. But in the last nine years, I've come to see something that I just discovered in the past year, and that is just how much love he has for our baby girl. No one can make her laugh like he can, no one can calm her down like he can, and I have never seen her attatched to anyone like she is attatched with her daddy. David has spent a lot of time and energy on our new little family, always looking at how he can help me out and learning the ropes right along side me. With him, I feel like we can get through everything. I'm glad we're still young and have everything ahead of us. I love you Davey, I love everything you are and everything you're striving to become.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Just a little taste of our laughter. He's always making fun of my towel head in the morning, so one evening after we got Stella out of the tub and I was making her bottle, both daddy and Stella were laughing, I turned around and this is what I saw.

The ABC's

A is for Anniversary....
August 18th, David and I shared our 4th Anniversary! Marie came to babysit while David and I went to Park City and rode the zip lines. I was so scared at first, just from being afraid of heights, but it was so fun! We stayed and watched people take their ski's off of jumps and into the pool doing back flips and other tricks. That was really fun to see, in fact, David wants to take the class so he can take his board of the olympic jumps and into the pool too. After that we went to Wasabi for all you can eat sushi. My Favorite!! Then with full bellies we walked around Liberty Park. It was a great anniversary honey, thank you & I love you!

He even bought me roses! Those of you who know David really well, will know how suprised I was to receive roses, thanks love!
B is for Birthdays....
Saturday August 29th Stella's 1st and my 27th birthday!
I made Stella's cake, David made my cake and we both made plenty of food.
She couldn't figure out what to do with it at first. In fact she was a little nervous with everyone watching her and camera's pointing at her. But as you'll soon see, she figured it out eventually.

Stella's sippy cup, the final topper

The best part about the cake was after she made her mess, "David, she's all done and It's my birthday too, so you get to clean her up!" Ha Ha!

Our family

Our neighbors, friends and Stella's play pal, Coasten, Nate and Shana

Pam with her mom and three kids

This is what David gave me for my birthday, a bike trailer/stroller. So far Stella and I have put it to good use. I absolutely love it!
Thank you everyone for making our birthday's so special! We are so blessed to have friends and family like you!!
C is for Camping...
David had a family reunion at camp Bartlett over the Labor day weekend. We camped out in a tent for 3 nights and Stella did great! I'm coming to find out she doesn't mind adventures like these because she loves anything new and she loves the outdoors. I should have taken more pics of the family and scenery, but I did get some cute shots of her holding still for once! I'm not into feeding her too much sugar, but I gave her a lolly pop and had to capture her cuteness.

Sharing with daddy

Want some???

She is getting cuter and cuter everyday. I LOVE this stage, she's so much fun and learning little bits at a time how to communicate. I just can't imagine our lives without her. She is the BEST.

I get nervous shooting guns, but they had a rifle range and I had to test it out too. This was David's dad's gun a 9mm. Yikes!!

Tuckered out on the way home. This is her new forward facing seat grandma Lolly gave her for her birthday. The first day we set her in and drove to church and back she giggled the whole way. She loves being able to watch more of whats going on with mommy and daddy.

Bent it half... her newest sleeping position.

She just started cuddling with this puppy I received ages ago. She snuggles it right before she falls asleep and cuddles it the whole night through.
